Two new rescue dogs are joining the K9 team of the Hellenic Red Cross, following a donation from the Hellenic Parliament, “strengthening the hard work that volunteer rescuers do every day to locate our missing people after natural disasters and other critical situations.”

This was announced today by the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, while welcoming to Parliament the President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos, accompanied by three volunteer rescuers and the trained rescue dogs, who are invaluable helpers in all procedures for searching for and locating missing people.

As noted in a relevant announcement, two of the three rescue dogs that came to the Parliament, King and Kira, are those donated by the Parliament to strengthen the Canine Search and Rescue Team (K9) of the Hellenic Red Cross. The training of these dogs has already begun and includes human scent detection, obedience, orientation and work under pressure, so that they can be immediately placed in this critical service. The third rescue dog, Ira, who came to the Parliament, recently participated in the search for a missing person in Aigio.
