Gerapetritis to Aragtsi: It is inconceivable that Greece should be considered an enemy country, we ask that Greek ships be allowed to leave the Persian Gulf
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
According to information, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis requested that the Greek ships that are blocked in the Persian Gulf be allowed to leave in a telephone conversation he had yesterday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who responded that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is due to the military aggression of the US and Israel against Iran.
The Greek Foreign Minister stressed, among other things, that it is not appropriate to consider Greece an enemy country for Iran and expressed Greek sensitivity to the fact that a large number of Greek ships are blocked in the Persian Gulf and that there must be security for the ships and their crews.
According to the Tansim Agency, Araghchi noted that Iran “has adopted a series of measures” in accordance with international law “to prevent the aggressors and their partners from abusing this waterway to advance their illegal and aggressive goals against Iran.”
During the communication, the processes in the UN Security Council, where Greece is a non-permanent member, were also examined.
