The former royals of Greece at King Harald's funeral - Their relationship with the Norwegian royal family

The day marked the culmination of a period of national mourning following the death of the monarch, who died on August 28 at the age of 89.

Like Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in the United Kingdom in 2022, Harald V's funeral brought together members of royal families from around the world, including those of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Spain and Japan. Prince William and Princess Anne travelled from the United Kingdom for the occasion, as the Windsors and the Norwegian royal family are linked by a common ancestry dating back to Queen Victoria.

Anna-Maria, wife of the former King Constantine II, also attended the funeral of King Harald. She was accompanied by three of her five children, Paul De Grace, Nicholas De Grace and Alexia, who was accompanied by her husband, architect Carlos Morales Quintana.

Born a princess of Denmark, Anna-Maria maintains close ties to the Norwegian royal family. Like her sister, the former Queen Margrethe of Denmark, she was Harald's second cousin. Margrethe, however, was unable to attend the ceremony, as she was admitted to hospital for observation after suffering a blood clot over the weekend.

It is noted that the members of the former Greek royal family, like Anna-Maria, maintain close ties with many of the royal families who attended the funeral, including their aunt, Queen Sofia of Spain, mother of King Felipe.

Also at the funeral, the Greek state was represented by President Tasoulas.
