EU - Turkey readmission treaty ratified

The European parliament has approved the agreement signed between Turkey and the EU for the return of Turkish or third country citizens entering the EU illegally to Turkey.
This is a milestone agreement that will signify the decrease of the illegal immigration flows that have been stretching the country's resources to the limits. As German Europarliamentarian Renata Zommer noted, speaking to the Deutsche Welle, “ From now on the massive migratory influx from Turkey to the EU will end, as Turkey has been bound to secure its borders. Whoever passes through Turkey will be returned to Turkey, unless it has to do with refugees that need protection according to the Geneva Accord.”
However dissent is not missing from certain quarters that speak of the policy as a return and not a re-settlement, that works as repressively, without really solving the problem. As Greens Eurodeputy Nikos Chrysogelos noted that people will risk their lives to escape immediate danger by crossing the Mediterranean.
