Subs handed over to the Navy

The four Type-214 submarines long overdue from a contract between the Greek government and German shipbuilder HDW are now due to become property of the Ηellenic Navy, according to defense minister Dimitris Avramopoulos.
The four submarines, “Pipinos,” “Matrozos,” “Katsonis,” and “Okeanos,” have been built at the Skaramangas shipyards .
The Hellenic Navy has undertaken to oversee all sub-contractors and workers , whose continued work is, according to the minister, guaranteed through termination of work still necessary, and sea trials, before their induction into the Fleet.
The relevant announcement reads: “ After the successful, in favor of the Greek state, resolution of the issue by the Defense Ministry, the Development Ministry will continue, as the relevant ministry, for an overall solution to the issue of the Skaramangas Shipyards.”
Mr Avramopoulos concludes by saying that the PM has been informed of the issue, while next week he will inform the parliamentary committee on Defense and procurements.
Meanwhile SYRIZA has called the announcement “a monument of imprecision and vagueness.”
