Albanian FM Heralds New Era of Relations with Greece
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Albanian foreign minister Ditmir Bushati stated his government is "decided" and "fully prepared" to turn a new chapter in relations with Greece, in an interview with the "Voice of America's" Albanian service.
Mr. Bushati mentioned that the Albanian government has had issues with Greece that have put off "for years, or we could say decades" and should be transformed into serious dialogue with the Greek side.
Without specific mention of the issues, the Albanian minister noted that the focus of discussions will be based on "international justice, best practices in international relations, good neighbor policies, and Albania's European prospects." This according to Mr. Bushati will end the way relations with Greece have been handled so far, which was as "crisis management."
Mr. Bushati also referred to relations with Turkey, which he deemed a country with special weight in the Balkans and the Mediterranean, and a bridge with the Arab world, the Middle East, and the western Balkans.
The Albanian minister expressed his belief that Turkey will be a main force for investment in his country.
