DIMAR Leader Kouvelis Announces Resignation

Democratic Left leader Fotis Kouvelis announced today that he is resigning as the political party head, as a result of their dismal electoral performance during Sunday's European Parliament voting.

DIMAR gained a mere 1.2% of votes, in comparison to 2012's 6.2% rate.
Kouvelis' decision arrived during DIMAR's questionable future. Four MPs have recommended that the party should strive to become closer with To Potami and PASOK, to form a center-left affiliation. However, five different delegates believe that DIMAR should collaborate with SYRIZA.

MPs Vassilis Economou and Grigoris Psarianos requested that Kouvelis resign. It remains to be seen if Democratic Left's central committee who plans to meet this Saturday, will authorize their leader's decision.
