Parliament Considers New Public Sector Selection Requirements
A Parliamentary draft bill concerning updated protocols for public-sector management staff selection, was actioned yesterday.
The major alterations covered in the bill include the elimination of a point-based mechanism, and will now allow for interviews and written tests to determine the best suitable candidates. The new method also supports the Supreme Council for Public-Sector Staff Selection to have more influence on the selection process.
The fresh system strives to hire qualified individuals based on talents and qualifications, rather than seniority and unjust elements. According to ANA-MPA, that Ministry stated: "The aim is to select the most appropriate employees for each position of responsibility. To identify, in other words, the dynamic criteria and special skills a civil servant must have for each specific position of responsibility".
