Officially out of the Parliamentary Group Kasimatis and Gerovasilis - SYRIZA remains with 10 MPs
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Both the expulsion of Nina Kasimati, MP for Piraeus II, from SYRIZA and the letter of independence of Olga Gerovasili were officially announced in the Plenary of the Parliament.
SYRIZA has fallen to fifth place in the parliamentary ranking after the expulsion of Kasimati and the independence of Olga Gerovasili. From the position of the main opposition that emerged with the vote of the Greek people in 2023, in terms of parliamentary strength it is now behind the Greek Solution of Kyriakos Velopoulos, while the party's position in the presidium of the Parliament remains vacant.
As announced yesterday by the president of the SYRIZA Central Committee, Rena Dourou, it is proposed that Ms. Gerovasili's position be taken by Elena Akrita. However, according to "blue" sources, ND is not expected to support the candidacy of the State MP, provoking a strong reaction from SYRIZA, as well as from the State MP herself.
Next Wednesday, the election of the vice-president
According to a decision of the Conference of Presidents, the roll call vote for the election of the vice-president by the fifth-strongest Parliamentary Group will take place in the Plenary on Wednesday, September 2, at 12.30.
