Montreal’s City Hall echoed with cries of “LONG LIVE GREECE”, as the Greek flag waved in the council chambers where Mayor Valerie Plante spoke about the Greek revolution and Greece’s gigantic struggle for liberation.
City councilors Mary Deros, Despina Sourias, Effie Giannou Karmiris, and Mayor Dimitrios Jim Beis of Pierrefonds-Roxboro discussed the journey of Greek immigrants from Greece to Montreal and their integration into the city’s society.
Despina Sourias paid tribute to Montreal’s Greek women, speaking fondly of her mother, Ioanna Sourias.
