Former ambassador George Tsunis honored by NY Greeks for his contribution to Greece

Former ambassador to Greece George Tsunis received the 'Pheidippides' prize from the Hellenic Public Radio 'Cosmos FM' at its annual award ceremony in the Union League Club of Manhattan.
The formal dinner was attended by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Greece's Consul General in New York Iphigenia Kanara, and many prominent Greek Americans. Greek American Public Information System (GAEPIS Inc.) president of the board Stelios Taketzis referred to Tsunis' multifaceted business, philanthropic, and national activities, pointing out that the award was presented to individuals or organizations with significant contributions to Hellenism. Taketzis also mentioned the multiple scholarships that Tsunis provides.
Tsunis' work was presented by Pfizer CEO and Greek American Albert Bourla, who spoke of the former ambassador's character and contributions.
Addressing the event, Tsunis spoke of his family's origins from Platanos near Nafpaktos, the Greek they spoke at home, and his mother's role in forming his character, and he thanked Cosmos FM for the honor and Bourla for his friendship.
