The Society of Kavala Prefecture of New York (*Σύλλογος Καβαλιωτών της Νέας Υόρκης «Φίλιπποι») on Saturday afternoon, February 7, 2026, revived the customs of New Year’s Eve and the cutting of the Vasilopita at the Center for Macedonian Studies in Whitestone.

Despite the polar cold and 16 degrees Fahrenheit, the room was filled with the Association’s executives, members and friends.

The event began with the newly elected Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kostas Efkarpidis, presenting the report of the previous year and the planning of events for 2026. Collaborations with other organizations of the Greek diaspora, from the cultural, academic and charitable fields, were the main topic of the speech in the context of the Association’s renewed strategy.
