The events began with the Divine Liturgy and Doxology, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael, at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, in the presence of a multitude of believers and Greeks from the diaspora. After the end of the sacred service, the Minister had a warm meeting with His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael, with whom she discussed the role of Orthodoxy in preserving Greek identity and the contribution of the Hellenism of the diaspora to the unity of the nation.

The Evzones of the Presidential Guard march in Greektown in Chicago

The highlight of the celebrations was the grand parade in Greektown in Chicago, with the participation of thousands of Greeks, school clubs and organizations. The presence of the Evzones of the Presidential Guard, who marched in Chicago after almost ten years, caused a particular emotion. Their return lent a strong symbolism to the event, reinforcing the feeling of national pride. The events highlighted once again the vibrant presence of Hellenism beyond the borders of the homeland.
