Vangelis Marinakis' touching initiative for Huntington's hero

Featured Vangelis Marinakis' touching initiative for Huntington's hero

Vangelis Marinakis' Nottingham Forest have made a great getsure, offering life experience to the hero of the Huntington incident. Specifically, a few days ago, scenes of horror unfolded on a Doncaster-London train, when a man attacked passengers and crew members with a knife, shortly after departing from Peterborough.

Among the 10 victims was 22-year-old Scunthorpe United footballer Jonathan Giosey, who was injured in the hand and underwent surgery, remaining in hospital out of danger. The chairman of Olympiacos and the Premier League team, Vangelis Marinakis, initially decided to financially support those injured in the deadly attack, fully covering the cost of their medical care.

In addition, the Reds boss decided to offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience to… the hero of the Huntington incident, Stephen Crean, who suffered serious injuries to his hand when he tried to disarm a knife-wielding attacker with his bare hands in the incident last month. The Nottingham friend did not hesitate and rushed at the perpetrator, a 32-year-old Englishman. So did a train catering worker, Samir Zitouni, who suffered injuries to his face and neck, and had to be hospitalized for two weeks.

What the two Nottingham friends achieved became the first topic on the Island, while Stephen Crean in particular is even praised by like-minded fans as a “true Forest hero”.

The 61-year-old, who said his heroic action was to protect his younger passengers from the angry attacker, had already been honoured as Nottingham Forest's official guest at a home game against Leeds, where he was lauded by the fans at the City Ground. His hand remains bandaged, as seen in a photo released by Nottingham Forest, and it was recently revealed that he will never fully recover.

Crean

Crean, along with his friend Philip, with whom he is travelling, were photographed with the Nottingham team during a pitch inspection at the Galchenwaard, for the Europa League match against Utrecht (11/12, 19:45).
