Cyprus Rises in Popularity Among Swiss Tourists
Switzerland's Cyprus Tourism Organization Director George Papantoniou has announced its prediction, that the amount of Swiss tourists will rise by 15% this year.
This marks a total of 48,000 travelers to the island from Switzerland. The Cyprus Tourism Organization also revealed its forecast that Swiss arrivals next year will soar to 60,000 people, due to new flights and travel efforts by the two nations.
Cyprus has experienced a boost in its overall tourism rates this year. The Passengers Survey reported that tourist arrivals to Cyprus increased this May by 6.1%, in comparison to May 2013, according to Parikiaki. This year the amount held 293,181 travelers, while last year generated 276, 244.
Cyprus Tourism Organization General Director Marios Hannides discussed his happiness at the increase. As reported by the Survey, 2.4% more travelers arrived from the UK, with 15.2% more originating from Russia.
Yet, Greek tourists decreased by 2.4% and Swedish tourists declined by 10.7%. Between this January to May, total tourism figures reached 637,617, while last year held 615, 916, resulting in a 3.5% increase.
