A floating souvlaki shop on Amorgos
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
We have heard a lot of original ideas in food service, however, this is the first time we have heard of a floating souvlaki shop!
It is the first of its kind in Greece and is located - where else? - on an island, specifically in Amorgos.
Bloom Brothers Canteen, as its name suggests, is located on Aigiali Beach in the beautiful island of Cyclades and attracts many tourists due to its location, as it is on the water.
It was an idea of its owner, Nikos Drigos and his sister, Katerina, who decided to open it in 2018 and since then it has been operating every summer.
The two siblings wanted to open a beach shop together, however, when they couldn't, they came up with this original idea: A small canteen on the water that cooks the ultimate Greek street food.
The floating canteen is light blue and Lilliputian and is said to make the best souvlaki on the island, ideal food for after a swim.
It has no tables, so customers can enjoy their souvlaki sitting and relaxing at the edge of the pier. It stays open until late at night and plays nice music.
Its Hawaiian, tiki style is reminiscent of a tiny, summer bar, where you can of course also enjoy ice cold beer, shakes, smoothies or your soft drink as well as cool cocktails. Also, in addition to souvlaki and gyros, you will find fluffy sandwiches, juicy kebabs, etc.
The original shop with the relaxed vibes of the island is the ultimate attraction with tourists, Greeks and foreigners alike, making it viral on Instagram and TikTok.
Furthermore, it has collected 5 stars in the 23 reviews on Tripadvisor.
