Large increase in Israeli tourists this year in Greece – Up 51% in “El. Venizelos” in 7 months

Even though the start of the summer season in June was accompanied by a suspension and “freezing” of air connections with Israel due to geopolitical issues, even though in destinations throughout Greece the arrivals of Israelis on cruises were accompanied by protests in the past period, the Israeli market, nevertheless, presents a double-digit, indeed large, growth rate this year for Greek tourism.
At the country's largest airport, "Eleftherios Venizelos", for the first seven months of 2025, Israeli arrivals at Athens airport recorded an impressive increase of 51%, reaching 202 thousand compared to 134 thousand arrivals in the January-July period of 2024, while in July alone, approximately 31 thousand Israeli arrivals were recorded. Double-digit growth is recorded in traffic at all 14 regional airports (Aktion, Chania, Corfu, Kavala, Kefalonia, Thessaloniki, Zakynthos, Kos, Mytilene, Mykonos, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos) under Fraport Greece:
Despite the difficulties of the market at the beginning of the summer, passenger traffic to/from Israel appears to have increased by 12.6% with an additional 17 thousand passengers compared to July 2024. And this while flights have been replenished at a rate of 81.6% in July (only 37% in June) compared to the planning before the geopolitical developments.
