Skopelos: The European island that still maintains its identity

Featured Skopelos: The European island that still maintains its identity

For two months, Skopelos and Greece will be featured "on the air" during international flights. The island of Mamma Mia stars in a central four-page feature in En Voyage magazine, which is read by approximately 600,000 passengers of the airline Aurigny Flights on flights to Great Britain and France.

As stated in the extensive travel article, which resulted from a journalistic mission initiated by the Municipality of Skopelos, "the verdant island of the Northern Sporades has in recent years captured international attention, becoming a point of reference for travelers seeking authentic experiences in the Aegean.

Against the backdrop of its projection through cinema, the island confirms that its real power lies beyond the "big screen", in the unparalleled natural beauty, architectural identity and atmosphere of tranquility that characterizes it.

Skopelos stands out for its white, traditional houses with tiled roofs, narrow cobblestone streets and flower-filled courtyards that exude island elegance.

Cultural heritage is spread around every corner, with dozens of churches and monasteries testifying to the deep spiritual tradition of the place. From organized beaches to secluded coves, the destination covers every preference. The harmonious coexistence of green and blue composes the ideal setting for relaxation, activities and sea excursions. At the same time, local recipes, based on local products and fresh seafood, offer tasty delights with the famous Skopelos cheese pie standing out and the island’s restaurants and taverns combining tradition with creativity”

The magazine concludes that “with mild tourist development and quality hospitality infrastructure, Skopelos offers a complete travel experience. An island in Europe that, even "without the soundtrack of Mamma Mia", leaves an indelible mark on every visitor".

Referring to the prospect of the new season, the president of the Skopelos Municipality Tourist Committee, Eva Karamesini, added that "our goal is extroversion without compromising on quality and our local identity. Skopelos is a magnet for travelers from Greece and abroad who will return again because they feel the island is their home. In order to highlight this special relationship, targeted actions are being implemented in Greece and international markets".
