State Department on Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting: We encourage the resolution of disputes in accordance with International Law

"The United States continues to encourage the maintenance of calmness in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean among our NATO allies. The United States' work with Turkiye and Greece, as well as our presence in the Aegean, strengthens NATO and helps counter the Kremlin's aggression against its sovereign neighbor, Ukraine. Our collective efforts are focused on putting an end to Moscow's brutal and unprovoked war against Ukraine," he said.

In this light, he explained that the US welcomes the recent meeting between the two leaders as NATO allies and neighbors. "We encourage these discussions at all levels so that Greece and Turkiye can work together to promote peace, security and prosperity in the region and to resolve disputes diplomatically, in accordance with International Law."
