Washington Heights Drug Traffickers Arrested
An elaborate Washington Heights drug trafficking enterprise resulted in three arrests, as confirmed by officials today.
The operation ran out of two Washington Heights apartments and as WCBS reported, $500,000 worth of crystal meth and $12 million dollars worth of heroin were hidden inside. Seventeen pounds of meth and twenty kilos of heroin were secretly stashed in intricate areas of the 111 Wadsworth Avenue residences.
On Monday night, Pablo Paulino, Pedro Abreu and Janeison Garcia were arrested after police watched the apartment building from outside. Drug compartments were constructed behind bathroom tiles, and a kitchen and medicine cabinet. They were seized after the shelves and tiles were disassembled. A surveillance system was installed in one of the apartments. According to narcotics prosecutors, the illegal substances were planned to be sold in New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
The drug traffickers have been charged with three criminal possession counts for controlled substances. Paulino, Abreu and Garcia were arraigned yesterday evening. Garcia's bail was set at $250,000, while the other two convicts are being held without bail.
