Senator Gianaris' F Train Derailment Statement
New York Senator Michael Gianaris released an official statement yesterday, regarding the New York City F train's derailment.
The City subway train was headed to Brooklyn, and derailed near the 65th Street station in Woodside. The train ran off the express tracks at approximately 10:40 a.m. Friday morning, which resulted in the evacuation of 1,000 passengers. It occurred in a subway tunnel about 1,200 feet south of the station. The Greek-American Senator's proclamation can be found below.
"What happened today on the F train is completely unacceptable. While I am grateful to our first responders for helping passengers get to safety, this type of malfunction cannot be tolerated. Every New Yorker should feel safe on the subway, and I hope the MTA will immediately conduct an investigation to find out how this happened as well as a full safety review of this and any other train line that may pose a risk of derailment."
