Cyprus Concerned Over EU's Stance Regarding Turkey
Cypriot Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides declared that the European Union and its member nations frequently remain hidden behind the Republic of Cyprus and don't communicate candidly to Turkey.
The Spokesman added that Turkey's actions and noncompliance with inclusion requirements over the past nine years should greatly interest the EU and its states, as reported by Parikiaki.
In Nicosia, Christoulides stated at "The New Turkey, EU and Cyprus" conference, "The easiest thing is to say that the Republic of Cyprus is blocking Turkey's accession course. I wish we had so much power. We don't."
Christodoulides added, "Turkey is a neighboring country and we prefer to have a neighbor which respects democratic principles and is part of a family instead of a Turkey that is unpredictable."
