A meeting between military delegations from Turkey and eastern Libya was held in Benghazi as part of the visit of the Turkish corvette TCG Kınalıada, according to the former's Ministry of Defense.
In the announcement published on the ministry's social media account, the Turkish delegation led by the Director General of Defense and Security, Major General Ilkay Altindağ, met with the deputy commander of the "Libyan National Army" and commander of the Land Forces, General Saddam Haftar.
In the conversation that the two sides had, the joint actions that can be taken for the unity of Libya and the creation of a unified army were discussed. Also present at the meeting were Turkey's ambassador to Libya, Güven Begç, and the consul in Benghazi, Serkan Kiramanlioğlu.
Turkey has been trying to bring the two warring factions in Libya to an understanding so that they can present a common front on the illegitimate Turkish-Libyan memorandum that oversteps Greek nautical rights.
