Salamis Navy Boat En Route from Libya to Piraeus

The Hellenic vessel "Salamis" that is currently transporting 186 individuals from Tripoli to Piraeus, is scheduled to arrive at the port early today, according to the Defense Ministry.

Greece safely evacuated its embassy in Libya and has temporarily closed it "due to the adverse security conditions prevailing in the region", as reported by Kathimerini.

The Greek Navy boat departed from Salamina's naval base under the "Agenor" mission along with two smaller ships, and currently holds 77 Greeks, 12 Cypriots, 10 British, 7 Belgians, 78 Chinese, 1 Albanian and 1 Russian citizen.

Greek Defense Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos praised the Navy delegates who orchestrated the operation and commented, "The completion of the operation shows people what the armed forces can do and confirms our country's active role in the broader region".
