Australia's ACTU Supports Greek Labor Movement
The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) just passed a resolution that supports the Greek labor union movement, as reported by Helen Velissaris for Neos Kosmos.
The Australian Council of Trade Unions conversed with SYRIZA senior spokesman Kostas Isychos before ratifying their resolution.
The ACTU called on Greeks to seek advice with them regarding issues they have been confronted with before, such as public asset privatization.
ACTU President Ged Kearney stated, "The labour movement in Greece is playing a critical role in resisting attacks on jobs, services and the Greek people's way of life".
Kearny added, "It is the role of unions to speak up on these issues and passing the resolution on Greece at the ACTU Executive is a way Australian unions can support our colleagues in Greece."
SYRIZA's spokesman offered the ACTU a first hand account of the Greek crisis, and discussed austerity measures and Golden Dawn's increased popularity.
The ACTU stated, "The ACTU is deeply concerned about the impact austerity measures are having on the lives of Greek people, as well as the rise of extreme political parties".
The Australian Council of Trade Unions voiced its commitment in backing nations plagued by crisis and strives to mentor those affected by labor alterations.
