ND leader returns mandate to President

New Democracy (ND) leader Evangelos Meimarakis on Monday returned the mandate to form a government to the President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos.
Meimarakis underlined that the Constitution does not provide for typical and friendly meetings, but requires institutional understanding. "Unfortunately, the country is being led to a catastrophic course with the responsibility of Tsipras and this is something that could have been avoided," he added.
The leader of the main opposition party called on Tsipras to meet with them in order to avoid this catastrophic course. "We still have time and national understanding must prevail in the meeting chaired by you."
