Meimarakis: New Democracy is the party to unite Greeks
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
New Democracy (ND) is the party that supports unity among Greeks, its leader Vangelis Meimarakis said in a speech at a closed stadium in the town of Patras, in the Peloponnese, where he is visiting as part of his election campaign.
"New Democracy is a political power which serves the unity of Greeks, because some others want to divide us with their rhetoric and speech,” the leader of the main opposition said. “ND is a European, patriotic, social and progressive force,” he added.
Meimarakis accused SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras of spreading lies and noted: “Never before has a prime minister done so badly in such a short time; never before has a politician told so many lies as Alexis Tsipras.” Responding to a comment from SYRIZA on “leftist melancholy”, he said that it was SYRIZA that made Greeks melancholic. “New Democracy will bring back the smile to the people.”
