Communist Party criticises extension of Greek-US defence cooperation agreement

"The extension of the defense cooperation agreement between Greece and the USA, which also concerns the Souda base, confirms that the SYRIZA - ANEL government is not only continuing the policy of the previous New Democracy and PASOK governments but also further embroiling the country in the aggressive imperialist plans for the region, at a time when competition is intensifying dangerously," the communist KKE party said in a statement on Thursday.
"That is why the abolition of the base in Souda and all foreign bases in Greece, together with Greece's disengagement from NATO and its plans, constitute demands that must be at the centre of the popular struggle," KKE said.
