More and more immigrants are leaving Turkey to cross over to Greece, ”writes Frankfurter Rundschau.
The title of Frankfurter Rundschau is "Immigrants Departing for Greece Double".
The German newspaper notes: "Within one week 2,793 immigrants arrived in Lesvos, Chios and Samos, according to Greek authorities. Meanwhile, there are a total of 39,161 immigrants living in refugee camps in the Aegean, according to the relevant Immigration Service. It should be noted that last April immigrants to the islands did not exceed 14,000.
"The Greek government has announced that it is speeding up the examination of asylum applications and that those who do not need protection will be returned to Turkey. In addition, so-called pre-departure centers will be built on the islands. "
Tagesspiegel for Migration
Lastly, Tagesspiegel refers to the joint statement of more than 20 humanitarian and human rights organizations, including from Germany, Poland and Italy, which states that 'immigration is not a threat and does not threaten public order. It should only be properly organized, starting with the belief that under ideal conditions it will be a win-win for all involved.”
