National Action Plan for Road Safety to be unveiled in the presence of PM Mitsotakis

The National Action Plan for Road Safety 2021-2030 will be announced οn Wednesday, at 11:00, by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Kostas Karamanlis and the Deputy Minister Yiannis Kefalogiannis, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Strategic Plan will include measures/actions of a binding nature that must be undertaken at a national level by all competent bodies to achieve the goal of reducing deaths and serious injuries by 50 pct.
The most important interventions of the project concern, among others:
* The categorisation of violations by degree of danger, with emphasis on violations that increase the probability of a fatal car accident.
* Distinguishing penalties based on driving behavior and vehicle safety.
* The reduction of average speed in residential areas.
* The integration of new categories of vehicles, such as that of micro-mobility (scooters etc).
* The mandatory use of a protective helmet for all cyclists up to 12 years old.
