Mitsotakis on the “woke agenda”: It has no place in Europe - I believe in two genders, this is dictated by biology

Featured Mitsotakis on the “woke agenda”: It has no place in Europe - I believe in two genders, this is dictated by biology

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis took a position on the “woke agenda”, on the occasion of what US President Donald Trump advocates.

During the discussion with the president of the “Jacques Delors” Institute and former Prime Minister of Italy Enrico Letta, as part of an event organized by the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, Kyriakos Mitsotakis was asked about the rise of Far Right parties and the discussion on the “woke agenda”.

“Yes, I happen to believe that there are two genders: male and female. This is my personal opinion, this is dictated by biology,” he said characteristically.

The Greek Prime Minister added, however, that each country is different.

“Various explanations have been given regarding Donald Trump’s resounding return to the presidency. Certainly – I have commented on this – the extreme positions of the woke movement (wokism) in the US have resulted in the pendulum swinging in the opposite direction. I would like to point out that these extreme positions, which are, I believe, widespread on the liberal campuses of the leading American universities, have not appeared in Europe. I do not believe that we have this problem in Europe to justify a reaction against this particular agenda. This was primarily a phenomenon in the US,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

It is recalled that K. Mitsotakis, in the fascinating discussion that iefimerida.gr had organized last November between the Greek Prime Minister and the intellectual Pascal Bruckner, had spoken about the phenomenon and they had agreed: “If you question the tyranny of the minority, they call you a fascist”..

Mitsotakis: I do not co-govern with parties to the right of ND
Regarding the rise of the Far Right, Mr. Mitsotakis appeared optimistic for our country:

“As far as Greece is concerned, I believe that we have proven that there can be a strong center-right alliance that pushes the marginal parties to what should be their natural space, that is, to be small parties without a deep footprint in the public debate”.

He even pointed out that Greece is currently one of the few completely stable European countries politically:

“Stability is a very valuable ‘currency’ in today’s world. It is what allows us to quickly implement our electoral program, not to waste time on discussions within the framework of a coalition government.”

Mr. Mitsotakis agreed with Enrico Letta’s observation that the three-party coalition, like the one in Germany, was a “recipe for inertia,” which ultimately led the government to its downfall. “Therefore, having a one-party government with a parliamentary majority, in this world where quick decisions have to be made and where Greece has really started to implement a plan to catch up with the rest of Europe, is, in my opinion, a great advantage.”

He also emphasized that when discussing with foreign investors, “the political - and not just the economic - situation of a country is perhaps as important as the overall fiscal stability, so that they know that there is predictability and know who their interlocutor is at every step of a potentially significant investment.”

Concluding, the Prime Minister emphasized that there is undoubtedly a trend in Europe and the US towards what we call the “hard” Right or the “extremist” Right, however, he was quick to clarify that he will not co-govern with any such party in the future.

“I believe that in Greece we have managed to limit it. This does not mean that there is not a significant percentage of people who vote for parties that are to the right of New Democracy. But these parties, in my opinion, are still parties that are on the margins. They are certainly not and will not be part of any potential coalition-building exercise in the future,” he stressed.
