Man in Trikala hospitalized after black widow spider bite

A man was taken to the Trikala hospital after being bitten by a black widow spider.
As reported by the website trikalanews.gr, he was given the prescribed treatment at the hospital and is out of danger.
The black widow (scientific name: Latrodectus mactans) is a species of venomous spider, known for its very strong venom, its black color with the characteristic red hourglass shape on its abdomen.
The spider is called a "black widow" because the female spiders of the species kill the males after mating.
Although the "black widow" is dangerous, it is not fatal to healthy adults. Its venom affects the nervous system and can cause intense pain, muscle cramps, nausea or sweating.
