Dendias-Hegseth Meeting in the US: Defense cooperation and modernization of the Armed Forces in focus

Nikos Dendias met on Tuesday at the US Pentagon with Pete Hegseth.
After the meeting, the Minister of Defense referred to the importance of Greek-American defense cooperation, the strategic challenges in the wider region, as well as the modernization of the Armed Forces in the context of Agenda 2030.
As he stated, he had the opportunity to present the Greek positions on regional security issues, as well as the effort to reform and strengthen the Greek Armed Forces.
Subsequently, a separate meeting was held with the Undersecretary of War for Policy, Elbridge Colby, during which specific issues concerning bilateral defense cooperation were discussed.
Mr. Dendias also referred to the contracts signed between Greece and the United States, including the procurement of F-35 fighter jets, as well as the manner in which they are implemented for the benefit of the Greek Armed Forces.
At the same time, he announced that he has extended a written invitation to his American counterpart to visit Greece, highlighting the importance of such a visit for bilateral relations.
