Infighting among Independent Greeks

Party president Panos Kammenos was less than pleased from what he heard from his outspoken deputy. As it turns out Mr Kammenos was angry at the mention by Ms Makri that a third deputy could be ready to leave the party.

In a telephone conversation between the two that is published in the VIMAtodotis column of ToVima newspaper, Mr Kammenos is shown as saying to Ms Makri that she was trying to destroy his party with her statements, while she retorted that through her statements she managed to avert the exit of Eleni Xoulidou.

Mr Kammenos pointed out that Ms Xoulidou declared her obedience to the party, and Ms Makri noted that her statements had prompted Ms Xoulidou's pledge of loyalty.

The column also notes that Ms Makri chatting in the parliament cafeteria said that the three ex-ANEL deputies that have already become independent (Giatagana, Giovanopoulos, Davris) have formed a clique (according to the column her exact wording) in order to woo her from ANEL with the aim of joining governing New Democracy party.
