Institutions return to Athens for a new round of negotiations
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A new round of negotiations between Greek government officials and the Institutions is likely to start in Athens on Tuesday, to reach a staff level agreement until early May for a political agreement to be then achieved in the Eurogroup meeting of May 22nd.
Following the contacts of Greek government economic officials with American and European officials in Washington, within the scope of the annual summit of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, there is optimism that the second review could be concluded next month. Under the current conditions a staff level agreement could be reached soon, however it is uncertain whether the talks on debt can advance quickly, given the disagreement between Germany and the IMF on this issue, which was made clear in Washington.
