Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni's visit to Athens on Thursday will be an opportunity for an overall discussion on strengthening relations between Greece and Italy, the developments in the region, the common challenges as well as the coordination in issues of EU agenda at the dinner hosted by the Greek Prime Minister at the Maximos Mansion, sources said.
The same sources said that Greece and Italy are two EU state-members and of the Meditarrenean that are facing common challenges in a series of matters while Mitsotakis has developed a very good working relationship with Meloni.
Issues regarding the economy as well as the cooperation in energy as well as the migration issue will also be discussed in the dinner. Greece and Italy have repeatedly noted that the migration is a European and international problem and demands an overall and comprehensive policy.
It is reminded that Meloni had invited the Greek Prime Minister to attend the International Conference on Migration and Development that was organised in Rome at the end of July 2023, but due to the wildfires in Greece, he could not attend.
