Trivago Study Reveals Greek & Cypriot Destination Trends
Research company Trivago announced that Greek and Cypriot travel locations' hotel pricing varies, regarding the makeup of its tourists.
Regions with a higher amount of domestic visitors have lower rates, while areas with a larger influx of international vacationers are more expensive. The research company's analysis covered August 14th to 18th reservations, that were scheduled between May 1st and July 31st.
The most expensive area was determined in Hora, Mykonos with an average nightly double room price set at 252 euros. The lowest rate was at Aegina's Aghia Marina for 51 euros. Tolo, (close to Nafplio) rooms averaged at 62 euros, while Skopelos rated 64 euros per night.
Trivago's study revealed that the most popular Greek tourist locations were Mykonos, Naoussa on Paros, Nafplio, Skiathos, Paphos, Laganas on Zakynthos, Limenaria on Thassos, Parga, Hania, Hora on Skopelos, Spetses, Limenas on Thassos, Tolo, Kallithea in Halkidiki, Hanioti in Halkidiki, Aghia Marina, Neos Marmaras in Halkidiki, Vassiliki on Lefkada, Syvota in Thesprotia and Nikiana.
The study also claimed that hotel rates can fluctuate due to package price reductions, availability and month, in response to discrepancies by Greek vacationers who many times pay more than international travelers.
