Himara.gr: What Nikita Khrushchev had to say about Northern Epirus after his visit to Albania

Himara.gr published an extract from the secret personal journal of Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, who visited Albania on May 25, 1959, and stayed there for 12 days.
"... During my visit to Albania, I moved almost across the country and found great differences between her northern and southern regions.
In southern Albania, cultural superiority, as well as national peculiarity, is self-evident, since the population in its vast majority consists of GREEKS. Unlike northern Albania, the southern regions, thanks to the Greek element, show a much higher cultural image, something completely different from the rest of the country.
But it seems this cultural supremacy of the GREEKS of the south, our Albanian comrades NOT ONLY WERE UNWILLING TO EXPLOIT, but, as I understand, THEY IN EVERY WAY TRIED TO DESTROY.
When I visited Agioi Saranda, a beautiful port in the Adriatic Sea, enthusiastic Greek crowds welcomed me and continued to cheer in the HELLENIC LANGUAGE. A purely HELLENIC atmosphere was created and only the rough faces of the Police and the figures of the Albanian officials reminded of the Albanian state presence.
I expressed my surprise and admiration to Comrade Enver Hoxha for the impressive presence of the GREEKS, who, apparently annoyed, tried to convince me that these were Albanians who had been Hellenized linguisticaly ... "
