Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu urged Greece on Tuesday to not become a “safe haven” for plotters of last year’s coup attempt, citing the 995 people who have applied for asylum since the failed putsch.

Turkey and Russia's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Sergei Lavrov privately met to discuss the situation in Cyprus, prior to starting the High Level Cooperation Council being held in Ankara.

During a telephone call between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, the latter proclaimed that a Cypriot solution must be founded on the joint declaration ratified by the nation's two leaders, according to Bayrak news portal.
