Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday sent a clear message to the new leadership of North Macedonia, stressing that if it does not fully comply with the provisions of the Prespa Agreement, then the country's path to the European Union will remain closed and the Greek government will not ratify the remaining Memorandums of Cooperation in the Parliament.

The United States encourages the maintenance of calmness in the Aegean and the resolution of disputes in accordance with International Law, the State Department noted after the conclusion of the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
Responding to a question from the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, a State Department spokesman noted that the US presence in the Aegean combined with the cooperation of the US with Athens and Ankara strengthens NATO and helps to counter Russian aggression.

Greece and Türkiye can "establish an approach of mutual understanding not as an exception, but as a productive normalcy that is not annulled by the well-known differences in our positions," Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said after meeting in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday.
