The IT illiteracy of Greek civil servants
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Greek public servants are technologically illiterate. According to data revealed by “Ta Nea” newspaper, 64% of public sector employees don't know how to send emailsand prefer handwriting documents instead.
Moreover, the article reveals that only one in every four public sector employees knows English. As far as other languages are concerned, only 5.3% speak French and 3.3% speak German.
Commenting on these figures, Minister of Administrative Reform and E-Governance, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated at Mega channel that the “profile” of public servants does not correspond to the needs of the sector and that the next target of his ministry is to make Greek public sector more efficient.
