Municipal staff take over Thessaloniki mayor's office

A symbolic sit in at the office of Thessaloniki mayor Yannis Boutaris was staged by municipal employees, this morning. The sit in was staged as part of the work freeze ordered by municipal employee federation POE-OTA.
The municipal employees were protesting the planned by the government assessment and the review of the tenure process undertaken in previous years.
“We are resolute in our position as working staff and we do not accept th assessment and the review of contracts, in the belief that these two laws will lead thousands to unemployment,” maintained Minas Monastiridis, representative of municipal employee federation POE-OTA.
Mr. Boutaris left his office, leaving the venue for the employees to make statements to the press.
