Venizelos in Turkey over weekend
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Foreign Minister and government vice president Evangelos Venizelos will be on a two-day visit to Turkey starting Saturday for talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
The visit comes amid tension over energy spoils in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
On Sunday, Venizelos will attend the Thronal Feast of St Andrew the Apostle at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul. As Pope Francis will also be visiting, there will be a chance at a sideline meeting with the Pontiff.
Venizelos will also meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Yesterday Venizelos spoke with Nicos Anastasiades on the phone ahead of the Cypriot president’s heart surgery in the US on December 4.
