Russians Transport Minister sees increase of Russian tourists in Greece

The number of Russian tourists that will visit Greece is increasing while the interest of Russian companies to participate in the privatization of TRAINOSE and Rosco, as well as the port of Thessaloniki remains strong, Russia's Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov on Friday said after his meeting with Greek Alternate Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas, during the interim session of the Joint Interministerial Committee Russia - Greece.

According to the statistics, Russian tourists' bookings for Greek destinations have increased, Sokolov said. "Despite the reduction in the bilateral trade due to the economic crisis and the sanctions, the volume of the Greece-Russia trade remains stable and in some areas has even increased," he added.
He noted that the Russian Railways have expressed their interest in the privatization of TRAINOSE and Rosco. As regards the Thessaloniki Port Authority, he said that the Russian side is waiting for the situation to clear out adding that the investment can get even more interesting if it can be combined with the participation in the privatization of TRAINOSE and Rosco.
