German FinMin warns against IMFdisengagement from the Greek program

In an interview with the WSJ, the German FinMin advised once more against the disengagement of the IMF from the Greek program.

Mr. Schaeuble argued that a potential withdrawal of the IMF would constitute a fundamental change in the program’s structure and would mean that a new package for Greece would have to be negotiated.

The latter would require the approval of the German Parliament, which would be rather challenging to achieve in the run-up to the German elections. A similar message was echoed by the ESM head, who also argued that a potential IMF exit would require the Bundestag vote.
