Sixth Fleet flagship in Thessaloniki for TIF

The flagship of the 6th US Fleet, USS Mount Whitney, is in the waters of Thermaikos in Thessaloniki, watching over the Thessaloniki International Fair.
USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), the flagship of the 6th US Fleet, is one of the most advanced C4I warships.
The ship came into service in 1971 and counts several participations in operations in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Indian, and the Horn of Africa.
It has a length of 189 meters, a width of 33 meters and a displacement of 18,400 tonnes, full load. It can develop a maximum speed of 23 knots, bears a particularly advanced telecommunication equipment and can safely and rapidly transfer data to any part of the Earth.
Its crew consists of 150 non-commissioned officers, 12 officers and 150 civilian personnel.
