Greek recipients for the Eurimages Co-Production Award - Prix Eurimages

The Eurimages Co-Production Award - Prix Eurimages is awarded this year to Greek filmmakers, Giorgos Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis of the firm Heretic.

The prize will be received at the 31st European Film Awards Ceremony on 15 December in Seville, Spain.

According to the committee's premise, this year's Greek Producers' Award "recognizes their important role in the European film industry as well as their contribution to the development and promotion of the co-productions industry and the deepening of cultural diversity".

It is worth noting that this is the first time that this award is awarded to Greek producers, and that they are the youngest recipients in the history of the institution.

The award given by Eurimages, an official body of the Council of Europe to support cinematographic production, was introduced in 2007 to highlight "the decisive role of co-productions in the development of international ties and exchanges".

"For us, this award is not only a personal distinction, but above all an absolute recognition for all our collaborators in the many years of making movies," said George Carnava and Konstantinos Kontovrakis. "For us this award is not just a personal distinction but is mostly the highest recognition for all our collaborators in the years of making films, "said George Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis. It's really great and moving," said the recipients.

George Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis founded Heretic in 2013, with a clear international orientation. Since then the company has implemented and participated in more than 35 film projects as a producer, co-producer and sales agent.

Among their productions, are films such as Elina Psychou's "Son of Wisdom", Etienne Kulos's "Foresters", Angelos Frantzis's "Real Estate", the upcoming "Pari" by Siamak Etemandi and "Sumendia" by Miguel Achel Jimenez.

"We are sincerely grateful to Eurimages and the European Academy of Cinema. For us, this award is not only a personal distinction, but above all an absolute recognition for all our collaborators in the years of making films.
