Policemen involved in Kostopoulos death to appear before examining magistrate on Monday

The judicial authorities laid lethal injury charges against the police officers involved in the death of Zak Kostopoulos in downtown Athens.

According to information, the police officers have already received the summons to testify before the examining magistrate handling the case of the 33 -year-old activist outside a jewellery shop where he had previously entered for unknown reason.
After their identification through a footage showing them delivering repeated blows to the victim, they have been summoned to appear before the examining magistrate on Monday.
The victim's family asked the revision of the charges against the two men (the jewellery shop and another shop owner) from inflicting lethal harm resulting in death and with the misdemeanour of causing grievous bodily harm to first-degree murder.
The family's request is based on the coroner's examination and the family technical advisor report regarding the cause of the death and on the footage showing the two men fiercely beating the victim while he tries crawling on glasses to get out of the shop.
