A veil of mystery covers the strange case of a suspecious envelope containing some kind of powder that arrived at Wednesday afternoon at a building in the University of the Aegean.

A team of 14 members of the 1st EMAK (Emergency Response Teams), specializing in the treatment of radiobiochemical threats, arrived with a C-130 military transport on Lesvos on Wednesday night, as well as a team from research institute "Demokritos" for the safe recovery of the object and its transfer to the General Laboratory of the State for the necessary chemical analyses to highlight the composition of the substance.

The team and experts of "Demokritos" will receive the envelope with unknown content sent to the rector's office of the University of the Aegean in Mytilene. In addition, the premises of the institution (the operation of which has been suspended for an indefinite period by a decision of the university authorities) will be examined.

At a second stage, prosecuting authorities will investigate the existence of the sender from India, as shown by handwriting on the outside of the envelope, which will then be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division in search of any postmarks or genetic material of the sender. The National Intelligence Agency and the Counter Terrorism Service have been informed of the case and are currently discretely monitoring developments.

"The victory will be Islam without the Muslims"

According to information, the leaflets inside the suspicious dust folder had a text in English saying "The victory will be Islam without the Muslims." The envelope containing the brochures and dust of unknown chemical composition had an Indian sender and as recipient the Rectorate of the University of the Aegean .

The site of the University, where the envelope was found, has been blocked in order to collect the necessary data.

It is recalled that some of the staff who came in contact with the envelope,  complained about irritation of the nose and mouth mucosa, while five employees, the legal counselor of the University, as well as the policeman who touched the envelope, were admitted to the hospital and are well in their health. As medical sources report, the symptoms have completely subsided.
