Nikos Pappas: Courting Venezuela and the US Embassy

Smiles, warm handshakes and hugs between Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas and US Ambassador Geoffrey Ross Pyatt during the cutting of the Vasilopita (New Year's Cake) of the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce.
While the government is among the few who support the Maduro regime in Venezuela, and the US and the EU condemn and recognize President Juan Guaido as interim president, this does not seem to affect its executives.
It should be noted that Nikos Pappas was one of the members of SYRIZA who participated in a trip to Venezuela, which had caused many questions. However, close relations between the Greek government of Alexis Tsipras and the US have forced government officials to side with both Maduro and the US.
That's why the smiles at the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce's pie cutting ceremony between Pappa and Pyatt. In fact, they cut the cake together.
